A-12 Cygnus Master Caution issue

Post by TMH » Mon Feb 08, 2021 12:02 am

Hi all,
I've got an issue with my Cygnus (used with FSX-SE): before takeoff, setting pitot heat ON will shut off the master caution light (and that's OK, I suppose, because pitot heat must be set to OFF above 60.000 feet), but immediately afer takeoff, the light turns on again with no warning message in the annunciator panel and, apparently, I've found no way to shut it down.

Is it normal? Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions?

Thanks so much in advance for any advice,
Federico alias TMH

Hi Frederico,

The Pitot heat must be on until 60,000 ft, once above 60,000ft you should be going so fast that it heats up from friction with the air. Above 60,000 ft (or thereabouts - I forget the specifics) the Pitot Heat light will illuminate warning you to turn it off.

What I believe you are witnessing at low level after take-off is the Surface Limiter Caution light, you just need to pull the handle at the top left of the annunciator lights.

Hope that helps!
