CVN-65 - RFN Gauge - IndiaFoxtEcho T-45C Issue

Post by trackbar » Fri Dec 20, 2019 6:26 pm

Good day
Downloaded …. Team SDB - CVN-65 Final Cruises... yesterday from the FlightSim.Com Store @ $35.00 US
Installed, and read and followed all instructions in the manual, but there is something wrong as l cannot find a USS Enterprise at any of the locations given in the manual. l have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. Have manually (copy and paste as per instructions) installed the DLL
At a loss... very frustrating, work for hrs and can't even find a Carrier. lam sure the program works in P3D V4.5, l must be missing something
Hope some admin see's this post cause it does not look to active in here.
Regards,

Hi. Yes it has been quiet around here lately because we've only been doing updates on some scenery. And despite very good sales this is the first post regarding the new Enterprise.

I scraped off my P3D v4.5 install earlier this week (guessing that's what you're using) and reinstalled yesterday. So I need to reinstall the Enterprise as well. I'll do that now using the retail sales package and report back what I find.

Out of curiosity, I checked on purchases from yesterday. Do you live in Canada or Carlsbad, CA?

Okay.

First thing to check is that were you prompted during launch of P3D v4 after installing the Enterprise to Activate it and did you say "yes"?

Second, from the top dropdown menu look under World -> Scenery Library and see if "CVN-65 Final Cruises Traffic" is listed near or at the top. And verify that it is checked under the "Enable" column.

If that is all correct then from the dropdown menu go to Navigation > Go to Airport. In the top left corner of the Select Airport window type in KTNU under "ICAO ID". That should bring up Oceana NAS in Virginia. Go there.

Select one of the aircraft you installed the RFN Carrier gauge into. Bring up the gauge using Vehicle -> Instrument Panel -> TACAN RFN gauge.

Dial the gauge to 25X, 25Y, 26X, or 26Y and you will see each of the four carrier version identified as yellow text on a green stripe at the top of the screen.
You can then use the gauge as a guide to fly to it or click the GO TO button and put yourself on the deck.

Try this out and let me know what you find. I just did it myself from a fresh install with no issues.

Since my initial verification I've had time to deal with real world concerns and am now back to testing this issue.

From the dropdown menu I went to Navigation > Go to Airport and selected the four Persian Gulf airport locations by ICAO code: OTBH, OBBS, OKAJ, and OMAM.
I then tuned the RFN TACAN gauge to the appropriate carrier and each one was located and I slewed out to each to verify it was there along with two Destroyer escorts.

So it all works fine. What were your results following my verification steps outlined above?

Beautiful aircraft and awesome sound set but wow, that panel.cfg is a mess.

Cut and paste works but you've got to understand what all the parts do. Since I do the French to English translation for the RFN gauge user manual I guess I know it too well.

In any case, I got it to work. The ships have always been there.

Here is a link to the T-45C panel.cfg file I came up with the RFN gauge installed and working.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/38wlnyolr0unx ... N.zip?dl=0

I'm leaving town for a week so please test this out asap. Unzip the file, rename the panel.cfg file you've already got, and drop this new one in to the panel folder.
If everything went according to plan it should work.

Your image didn't come through. Please try again as there is probably some valuable info there.

Here is what I see at NAS Oceana with one of the carriers tuned in.
The RFN gauge is free floating and not a part of the panel -- I slid it to the right a little in this view.
