removing non-RFN carriers from traffic files

Post by CaptHunt » Thu Feb 20, 2020 9:12 pm

I just purchased the Enterprise Final Cruises scenery pack from Flightsim.com (order# 100287), it looks awesome, but I see that it has both the default and Advanced FLOLS enabled carriers enabled in the scenery. I'm already running with a heavy load on simconnect thanks to GSX, SPAD.neXT, TacPack and some other add ons, so I'd like to optimize the scenery by removing the non RFN FLOLS ships. How would I go about doing that?

The easiest way to remove the non RFN ships is the edit the sim.cfg file.

You didn't say whether you were running FSX or P3D. All installs will be similar just the file location will be different. This example is for P3Dv4.

Find the sim.cfg file in this folder:

C:\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\CVN-65 USS Enterprise Final Cruises\SimObjects\Boats\CVN65_Enterprise_Last_Cruises

Open the sim.cfg file using Notepad and rename these two lines. Then save the file.

Change "[fltsim.1]" to "[fltsim.X]".
Change "[fltsim.3]" to "[fltsim.Y]".

That's it. They will still be listed in AI Carriers if you use it but they will not be loaded in the sim at any time.

To reverse this just rename the two lines back to the original shown above.
